Video Title:
Marilyn Monroe: Misfits”
2007, 2:48
The video is a digital portrait of Marilyn Monroe, in her last completed film, The Misfits (dir. John Huston, 1961). The film, essentially a valentine from her husband, Arthur Miller, was specifically written for Marilyn to show-off her overlooked dramatic acting skills. The off-screen drama that ensued during the filming was her break-up with Arthur Miller, drug abuse, and an eventual helicopter emergency lift to the hospital, out of the dessert. The video emphasizes the swan song nature of her last performance before her notorious suicide. The video was produced from seconds of the original film, slowed down, stretched and re-edited into a tragic, ethereal dance, evoking her troubled spirit and seductive beauty.
