Video title:
The Annihilation of Michael Phelps
2008, 6:30

synopsis
My new, experimental video entitled The Annihilation of Michael Phelps desecrates and reconstructs found materiel (all from youtube!) of the internationally lauded, Olympic superstar. Using only pre-existing footage, the video presents newly crafted imagery of atomic explosions, crucifixions and death. Employing the physicality of the body as the central narrative, the video polemicizes the structures of jock culture and celebrity within our global sphere, suggesting a demise or deconstruction of this universally glorified culture.
