    Video title:
    Mirror Mama
    2005, 4:54

This video was inspired by a childhood memory, in which the artist was
captivated watching her mother apply her make up in an almost ritualistic
    way.
While, on one level, the work is concerned with observing the
unselfconscious acts which punctuate the everyday and ordinary events of our
lives, on anotherlevel, the work aknowledges the artist’s attempt to regain
a sense of the child/mother relationship she once had.
The emotive aspect of the work is communicated through the use
and, importantly, placement of sound. The video takes on a different but
subtle turn once the sound is heard.
This film looks at one aspect of physical self-representation. But on
another level, it touches on the sentimental, personal and emotional
possibilities of communication and loss, the passage of time through three
generations and the power of memory.
